Pete has cooked this for me and I will tell you that it is hard to stop eating it.

Hey Pete-
I thought I would share with you one service that Microsoft is developing that will help push people towards the cloud. The service is called Office Live Workspace, and it allows people to store files online, and the collaborate with others on these files. It can be plugged into MS Office, meaning a user is only a few clicks away from saving their docs, spreadsheets, ppts etc to the cloud.
Microsoft is also working on web-app versions of Office Programs so that people will be able to utilize a large portion of the functionality these programs posses that once required a software download.
Thanks Jeff, the more options like this the better but I will say (unbiased) that Google has tapped into that idea already with Google Documents. It’s been out on beta release for a bit now and from what tinkering I’ve done with it, it’s pretty good. Hopefully this Microsoft product can do something that this doesn’t.
Jeff
One big advantage I mentioned above is that Office Live Workspace can be integrated directly into MS Office programs. This is a huge advantage for people who use MS Office and are constantly saving and updating docs, spreadsheets, ppts etc.
I really appreciate your feedback Pete. Office Live Workspace as you may have noticed is still in beta so getting to have this conversation with you is very beneficial.
Thanks!

I can see the advantage. It seems like a good first step towards the cloud. Will MS be developing MS Office Suite as a web app at any point. Also, how has OpenOffice effected the development of this new project?
When I first read the article title, I thought this was going to be a baby boomer attack on our younger generation.
But I completely agree with everything here – we’re so tech and socially savvy and we use it more often for evil instead of good. Great synopsis, and I truly hope our generation learns from you!

Thanks Nicki. And thanks for the digg too. I wrote this article as a subtle-passive-aggressive note to no one in particular. Feel free to send a link to anyone you may know who is a repeat offender.

Dead on! Keep up the commentaries.

Pete, I enjoyed talking to you and Caitlin tonight and had to see your art. Love it, especially the 3 middle ones. You have to keep creating, it is good for you (or any artist) in so many way and for so many reasons. Killer stuff. I’d like to see pics of the other 2 that “you don’t want to sell”. If you’ve got pics will you email them to me? Thanks Bev

BTW, have you ever used your painting technique on any thing else besides canvas?
Pete Fecteau
Thanks Bev! Our conversation on Friday night was very motivating. I really do need to make time to paint more. it’s more than a hobby i guess. It really taps into a deeper Pete that I should always be in connection with, not just when it’s convenient. I have the other paintings somewhere on the internet. Check this blog post again soon and I’ll add them. I actually never paint on canvas. For one, it’s too generic and has no story behind it. Secondly, my painting process needs a rather non-porous, flat and ridged substrate to work with. Most of them are done on reclaimed wood and some on metal.

This is a fantastic idea, I can’t wait to see how it develops.
