Malala

I co-organised a speed cubing event in Hayward California. It was the last Rubik's related thing I did at the old Buttonpresser Studios location. Myself, another local Hayward resident (and super-mom) April Chan and UC Berkely cuber Jeremy Fleischman collaborated to host "Rubik's Rumble".

My major contribution was a 900 cube mosaic of Malala Yousafzai, an inspring young woman who survived being shot by the Taliban for going to school. She later became an outspoken champion of rights to education and won a nobel Peace Prize in 2014.

I created a 'mosaic template pack' that allowed me to teach some of the younger siblings and parents at the event how to help me reverse-solve cubes and help build the mosaic. It's a great introduction to some of the simpler cube techniques.

Early in 2015 the same artwork was recreated at an event in Rhode Island and present to Malala Yousafzai. This has been a specific highlight in my career as a Rubik's Cube mosaic artist.
